UK Politics

-          The Times reports that ‘dozens of civil servants have submitted statements in support of Raab’s accusers’; this puts further pressure on Sunak’s claim that he was not aware of any formal complaints made against the current Deputy Prime Minister.

-          Aslef general secretary Mick Whelan, on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, offers insight into the underlying reasons behind UK strike action.

It isn’t about what we earn, it is about what other people don’t earn. I Want every nurse in the country, everybody in the fire brigade, everybody in the public sector, every teacher to have what we have'

Most might read this as a confession that rail workers are in less of a position to take strike action when compared to other sectors. However, this does suggest that pay alone is not the issue, there is a growing unrest with the British government and a declining sense of patriotic duty, that Sunak must restore.

Sunak also offers his views on gender identity. Piers Morgan asks Sunak “what is a woman?” to which Sunak quickly replies, “Of course, I know what a woman is - an adult human female”.  Sunak stresses the importance of biological sex, after Piers Morgan makes reference to the current issue in Scotland, concerning the trans-gender rapist – Isla Bryson.

War in Ukraine

Putin likens Germany’s decision to send tanks into Ukraine to WWII. Putin states “we are again being threatened by German Leopard tanks”.

It’s almost one year since Russia launched a full-scale invasion into Ukraine. Speaking in Volgograd - the modern name for Stalingrad – Putin alludes to using stronger measures against Ukraine with dangerous weaponry.

"Those who hope to defeat Russia on the battlefield do not understand, it seems, that a modern war with Russia will be very different for them…We are not sending our tanks to their borders, but we have the means to respond. It won't be limited to the use of armoured hardware. Everyone must understand this."
